How to remove the gaps between tiled windows on Mac

To remove the gaps around windows tiled by macOS, open System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Windows and turn off Tiled windows have margins. This setting is available with the built-in tiling introduced in macOS Sequoia 15.

Turn off the margin setting

1. Open System Settings and select Desktop & Dock.
2. Scroll to the Windows section.
3. Switch off Tiled windows have margins.

Return to your desktop and tile two windows side by side to check the result. You can turn the setting back on in the same place if you prefer a little separation. Wording may vary with your macOS version or language.

Still seeing empty space?

First, check where the space is. Wallpaper between the outer edges of two windows is different from a blank area inside a document or webpage. The macOS margin setting does not change an app’s own page padding, sidebar, or toolbar.

Also check how you placed the windows. Two windows you resized by hand may simply need moving closer together. If another window manager arranged them, check that app’s layout settings too.

Use two ordinary, resizable windows for the comparison. Change one thing at a time so you can tell which setting helped.

Choose the space that reads well

Try the layout with real work: a page you are reading and a note you are writing. Removing gaps is useful when you need more room, but a narrow divider can help you keep track of two similar documents.
